Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a non-profit website that provides short educational videos for students across the world, for free.

Founded in 2008 by Salman Khan, Khan Academy has become one of the largest open learning platforms in the world. Khan Academy provides Maths, Science and language learning for K12 students, and also beginner-level courses in programming and other professional skills for all students .

Khan Academy host their videos using YouTube, which has the world’s biggest audience for videos. Khan Academy have also integrated a customized video player to their own site, to make their video lessons more interactive. Khan Academy courses are designed to include both video-based instruction and practice exercises, encouraging learners to participate in educational material more actively.

While all instructions were given in English initially in Khan Academy, lessons have also been included in Bengali, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese and Russian among others. Creating content in student's first language has been very helpful in making Khan Academy a household name across the world, so much so that indeed schools have started incorporating Khan Academy learning material as part of the learning process for students.
